    Product description

    Wim Heesakkers (1950)

Many paths lead to the visual arts. That of the Dutchman Wim Heesakkers began with photography - he studied at the Fotovakschool and also worked for several years as a professional photographer in specialized studios. Soon, however, he expanded his artistic toolkit to include lithography and typography and began to draw and paint. For more than a decade, he then worked as a freelance illustrator and was in high demand for his artistic range - Heesakkers works with equal aplomb in pencil and pen, in oil on acrylic, in the traditional gouache technique and, last but not least, in airbrush. His fascination with the challenge posed by a wide variety of art techniques nevertheless led him further: works in steel, fiberglass, plastic and wood followed - and finally those in bronze. Heesakker's work has been exhibited with great regularity in his native Netherlands and internationally since 1993: well over 20 times in Germany alone, but also in Belgium, England, Austria, Spain, Italy and the USA.

Heesakker's studies in the "Balance" series play with the paradox of weight and lightness: his portly female figures literally move light-footedly on a stone pedestal; their opulent curves cause their elegant dance on one leg to be accompanied by a play of light and shadow that changes over the course of the day.
