Maria-Luise Bodirsky Bronze Statue Companions II

After her state examination - fine arts, German, psychology - at the College of Education in Freiburg, Bodirsky continued her studies in painting and sculptural design and attended various seminars and courses with internationally renowned artists and art professors. In 1986, she founded her own ceramics studio in Oberrotweil am Kaiserstuhl. Since then she has created an extensive body of sculptural work. Her central theme is man in his development, vulnerability, transience and in his beauty. Her preferred material is clay, with which she builds and models her works. She fires her objects in the studio's own electric kiln, but sometimes also resorts to the simplest traditional firing techniques such as wood-fired earth pits. However, she also has selected works cast in bronze, iron or aluminum.
