Theophil Steinbrenner (1946 - 2018)
Theophil Steinbrenner studied sports and art education from 1965 to 1969 and then also worked as a teacher for several years before venturing into free art in 1983. Since then Steinbrenner has created an extensive graphic (drawings, etchings, watercolors) and ceramic oeuvre (free ceramics, but not least artistically designed tile stoves). In addition, numerous bronzes have been created in recent decades; here the spectrum ranges from small bronzes to large works, which Steinbrenner presents, among other places, in a self-designed sculpture garden in his hometown of Schwarzach am Main. The artist was one of the most sought-after fountain designers not only in his region; more than 300 fountains for communities and cities from Hamburg to Perg in Upper Austria were created in his studio.
The presentation of Steinbrenner as an artist would be incomplete, however, if one did not also mention the cultural-political significance that the artist has in his homeland: in 1987, he founded the Sommerach Tower Museum, which has since also served as a stage for a variety of cultural events.
