    Product description

Edition in bronze, cast in lost wax, chased by hand and patinated.

    Ernst Günzkofer (1938 - 2016)

Ernst Günzkofer is a trained stonemason and as such also successfully completed a master craftsman's examination. However, art joined his craft at an early stage, and very successfully at that: at the age of not quite thirty, he achieved medals in gold and bronze for his sculptural works at the Federal Garden Show in Karlsruhe in 1967, and further prizes were to follow (such as the Bavarian State Prize, which was awarded to him at the 1988 Craft Fair in Munich).

Characteristic of Günzkofer's work is the sculptural modeling of movement in the sense of a figurative-realistic representation of "frozen moments." Many of his small sculptures, whether they depict humans or animals, impress with their inherent tension, which gives the solid bronze unmistakable dynamism.

In addition to his numerous small sculptures, Günzkofer has also created large fountain installations. In his hometown of Prien alone, there are several of them, for example a "Lesende" at the Ludwig Thoma Gymnasium and a "Rübezahl" near the Sparkasse Prien.
