Hans Nübold (1942)
Hans Nübold studied from 1960 to 1964 at the Staatliche Höhere Werkkunstschule in Schwäbisch Gmünd with Fritz Nuss and subsequently from 1964 to 1966 at the Art Academy in Milan with Marino Marini. His oeuvre includes numerous drawings, reliefs, medals and sculptures, and he has earned a reputation as a great perfectionist, especially as an animalist. Nübold also proves to be such a perfectionist in his free sculptures for public spaces and his other works, most of which are not always figurative. "Tradition does not bind - it sets free!" was the title of the catalog for a large exhibition of Nübold's work a few years ago. Tradition offers a secure ground, which the artist can transgress, but just as well transgress.
