Monika Wex has a degree in art education and has worked as such in a number of institutions over the past 20 years - for some years classically at a grammar school, at the adult education center, but above all and to this day at the University of Augsburg, at the Freie Kunst Akademie Augsburg and at the Kunstakademie Bad Reichenhall. Her career as an artist is similarly long. Although "only" working exclusively as a freelance artist since 2004, she has been a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists for half of her life and excelled early on with drawings, paintings, sculptures and objects. While her graphic work usually remains clearly representational (for example in nude drawings and portraits), the artist prefers a strict, almost geometric form in her sculptural work, in which nevertheless - as in her "Protector" and in "Up" the bird figure - the represented object can still remain recognizable. In 2009 Monika Wex was awarded the 1st Art Prize of the Günzburg district.
