    Fidelma Massey (1956)

The Irish Fidelma Massey studied sculpture in the 80s at the "School of Art" in Dun Laoghaire not far from Dublin. After a few years dedicated to the design of utility ceramics, she became a freelance sculptor and has been working as a freelance artist since 1986. Her preferred materials are bronze, ceramics and stone. Massey's art often deals with Irish, European and non-European mythology, but uses it only as a starting point for a detailed, exuberant fantasy. In addition to frequently depicted trees and birds, goddesses and female figures are at the center of this sometimes bizarre yet beautiful world. Massey's concern is to stir the viewer's imagination and sensitize him to the marvelous in nature. Fidelma Massey's works have been shown nationally and internationally in numerous group exhibitions and have fascinated countless visitors, such as at the Royal Hibernian Academy, at the annual Sculpture in Context exhibition in Dublin, and at L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
