Sonja Marschner Bronze statue: Traum vom fliegen

Art may be a calling, but making a career of it is very difficult and is sometimes an arduous path to follow. This was the case for the sculptor Sonja Marschner, who was born in Neumünster in northern Germany and now lives and works in Weil in Swabia. Before she was finally able to concentrate on freelance sculpture in 2009, she had financed her artistic work with a long series of various occupations and careers. On the one hand, this can be admired as evidence of a great will to persevere. But beyond this, it may also explain the great extent of “worldliness” of her art. Marschner’s themes are entirely of this world. She is concerned with people in their social environment, something she knows well, being a trained educator.
