Description

Inspired by the traditional Japanese festival Tango no Sekku (Day of the Child), this amusing piece shows a little boy riding a brightly colored giant carp. The carp is a reference to the koinobori or satsuki-nobori flags, traditional fish-shaped emblems that decorate Japanese homes and buildings in honor of children starting in April, with the wish that they will grow up strong and healthy.
