Ingo Koblischek (1933 - 2020)

Ingo Koblischek was born in Bohemia/Moravia in 1933 and grew up there until he fled in 1945. This nature-oriented youth and also the fact that he initially completed a commercial apprenticeship in the post-war period and worked in agriculture on the side, seems not entirely unimportant for his art in retrospect. 

From 1956 to 1958 Koblischek studied in Munich, since then he has made an international name for himself as an animal sculptor, above all as a sculptor of horse figures. He receives commissions from horse lovers all over the world, and in horse-loving circles he is probably one of the best-known sculptors in his profession - even the "who's who" knows the Friedrichshafen artist, who has also been a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in London since 1994.

Koblischek produces horse sculptures and portraits in all sizes and variations. These range from small bronze sculptures to life-size portraits of great derby winners. However, the artist cannot be reduced to this subject at all; as an "animalist" of distinction, he has also produced many other animal sculptures and, in addition, quite a few of his works - often fountain sculptures - adorn public spaces. In 2003 he was awarded the Stauffer Medal in recognition of his artistic work.
