Istvan Herold (1955)

Istvan Herold studied sculpture at the Budapest School of Art in the 1970s. Since 1982 he lives in Austria. Since the turn of the millennium he is (again) artistically active and appeared as a draftsman and as a sculptor. First exhibitions soon followed, for example in the Vienna UNO-City and in the Vienna Cathedral and Diocesan Museum. In 2007 his "John the Baptist" was presented to Pope Benedict XVI, and in the same year a first solo exhibition already presented over 40 sculptures and more than a hundred selected drawings.

Since then, the artist's work has continued to grow, and with great regularity he is represented at exhibitions. Herold's sculptural works focus on the vulnerable human body that harbors a vulnerable soul - an artistic look at the fragility of human nature.
