Kaikaoss (1965)

Kabul - Minsk - Cologne. These are the stations in the life of the artist Kaikaoss. He was born in Kabul and received painting and drawing lessons there as a child - first privately, later at the state drawing school. A scholarship finally enabled the young artist to be accepted at the art academy in Minsk (Belarus). After a short return to his war-torn homeland, he fled to Germany in 1991, where he drew attention to his work as early as 1992 in an exhibition in Emden. Since then, numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad have followed; since 2004, Kaikaoss has lived and worked in Cologne. 

"Maskerade" is the first sculptural work of the painter, who has long been established on the international art market, and transfers his artistic imagination into the third dimension. Like his works on canvas, it is characterized by an ambiguous, only seemingly realistic approach, a style that critics have called "realistic yet surreal, contemporary yet classical."
